Gifted Birth Support is a birth attendant/ doula service for pregnant and birthing women in Shepparton and the surrounding areas.
Gifted Birth Support is run by Kate – a certified birth doula, providing pregnancy, birth and post-natal support for women in the Shepparton area.
As a doula, Kate has experience supporting mothers and couples with hospital birth, twin pregnancy and birth, physiological birthing and medically-assisted labours and birth.
As a mother of three, Kate has experience with preparing and experiencing natural birth in hospital, including delayed cord clamping and physiological placental birth. She also has more than 8 years experience with breastfeeding and resources to support clients with some of the challenges that can come with breastfeeding.
To extend her skills, Kate is seeking to support and gain experience with woman of all child-bearing ages, homebirth, caesarean birth and VBAC, breech and lotus birth.
As a part of her doula course Kate is seeking to support and gain experience with woman of all child-bearing ages, homebirth, hospital birth, medically assisted birth, caesarean birth and VBAC, twins and multiple births, posterior, breech and lotus birth.
WHAT IS A BIRTH ATTENDANT/ DOULA ?
A doula is a qualified birth attendant that works exclusively and continuously for benefit of the woman, her birth, and her baby – she does not provide medical, nursing, or midwifery care, nor comment on, interpret, or judge medical care.
A doula can provide physical, emotional, informational and educational support throughout your pregnancy, birth and beyond. Women can form a trusting relationship with her doula, who can provide a constant source of care during pregnancy, labour, birth and the postpartum period. This type of care can have very positive outcomes for women and their babies, but be difficult to achieve in typical models of care in Australia.
A doula can work in a home, hospital or centre setting, and work alongside midwives, obstetricians and other professionals to help create the ideal team and environment for the birthing woman.
